Excellent Quality and Sturdy

I use this on my wrought iron 4 pedestrian gate and it works very well (about 50 lbs.). Its solid and well made. A good quality product. It comes with clear instructions to install and is fairly easy depending on your application. I hesitated at the price but this is excellent quality and sturdy.

Durable and Better Quality then Most Offer

It closes the gate like it is supposed to.

Its hard to find a good gate closer. This one is one of the best that I have purchased for our pedestrian gates. They seem to fail in extreme heat or extreme cold.

The Perfect Gate Closer

This is exactly the type of closer we needed to keep our disabled son from going out our front gate into the street. The typical spring closer will slam the gate sometimes causing the latch not to catch or if the gate is only partially opened the spring does not have enough force to latch it. These work like the closers on many car hoods and hatch windows except they are much stronger. They close the gate at an even speed, then speed up in the last couple of inches to make sure the gate latch catches. The force to open the gate also prevents our son from opening the gate on his own.

They make three models and we bought the middle one first (a smaller unit was not listed) but it was too strong. I believe these were designed for swimming pool gates. You can also not 'lock' the closer open like you can on a screen door. This prevents leaving the gate open and forgetting it. The unit specs are based on the width and weight of the gate so compare them before you purchase. $200 sounds like a lot of money for a closer but the unit is built very well and the safety aspect of making sure our gate closes every time to protect our son is worth it.

Note: All three units use the same brackets. The only difference is the cylinder and the spacing between brackets. I also recommend using bolts or lag screws to attach the brackets.
