The Tomar 1790-1014 STROBESWITCH Detector is a compact, low-cost optical detector that opens access gates when it detects a dedicated strobe signal from emergency vehicles. It’s designed for facilities that rely on fire department preemption emitters to ensure quick, secure entry for responders.
- Compatibility: Interfaces with TOMAR 780–1228–PRE or GTT OPTICOM® traffic preemption emitters to control gates, doors, and related devices.
- Mounting: 1/2” female pipe hub mounting base for straightforward installation on standard supports.
- Detection Method: Optical, line-of-sight detection of the strobe signal with digital frequency discrimination to reject unwanted light sources.
- Range: Typical detection up to 200 feet, depending on emitter intensity.
- Field of View: 10° vertical, 90° horizontal to maximize signal reception.
- Signal Acquisition Time: 0.64 seconds from valid signal reception to relay activation.
- Indicator: Red LED illuminates on a proper optical signal and is visible through the viewport (up to 25 feet or more) for quick verification.
- Output: Relay contacts to drive security gates, fire department garages, and other access devices.
- Environment: Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, in bright sunlight and all weather conditions.
- Reliability: Not susceptible to RF interference; rejects false triggers from flashlights or other lighting systems.
- Power Module Reminder: Detector is sold separately from the power module (Part Number 1790M-2) for flexible system configuration.
