Description
The EMX OWL Activation and Safety Sensor combines microwave motion detection with active infrared presence sensing in a single intelligent device, providing reliable activation and safety protection for automatic doors, industrial gates, barrier systems, and loading dock applications. Featuring two independently configurable relay outputs, the OWL uses microwave technology to detect approaching vehicles while the active infrared sensor monitors the presence of both vehicles and pedestrians to help prevent unsafe door or gate movement.
Unlike conventional motion sensors, the OWL is capable of distinguishing between vehicles, pedestrians, and cross traffic, helping reduce unnecessary activations and improve energy efficiency. The highly customizable infrared detection zone and programmable traffic filters allow installers to fine-tune operation for virtually any commercial or industrial application. Configuration is performed using the optional OWL-RC remote control, which provides quick access to direction detection, hold times, detection areas, and additional programming options.
Designed for wall or ceiling mounting between 11.5 and 21.3 feet, the OWL features an IP65 weather-resistant housing, adjustable detection fields, and operates from 12–24 VAC/VDC, making it ideal for demanding indoor and outdoor environments.
